The Altman Family World Tour Website

Come Join Us!
Welcome! On this website you will be able to join us in our adventure around the world though pictures of the places we have traveled to and journal entries of our experiences. You can look ahead to see what our plans are through the Itinerary page or go back in time to places we have already traveled too. We hope you will learn and enjoy following us on our adventure around the world.

Making the Decision to GO
Like all parents, we spent considerable time and conversation discussing and planning what would be best for kids and family. We discussed all kinds of possibilities. Over the years, we have been fortunate and have implemented many of the ideas we discussed. Nearly nine years ago, one of the possibilities we discussed was traveling around the world. Years flew by as the two of us were consumed with family and significant challenges and opportunities in our professional lives. Rather suddenly, we realized the kids were getting to the point where taking them away for a year was becoming increasingly difficult. With this very important window of time closing, the events taking place in both our careers, and the receptive attitude of our kid’s school, we made the decision to take the trip.

We would love to hear from you.

Planning the Trip
Kris began to research all of the possible places to go. Combining our previous travel experience, advice from travel agents and friends, research on the web, global weather patterns, and the political climate in certain countries, a rough itinerary began to develop. We purchased a large map of the world to help visualize the possible itineraries. Kris narrowed the number of travel agents. We relied on a handful of agent’s, one generalist, a few specialists, and the itineraries that Kris worked up for us when we weren’t on tour. Some of the destination planning was influenced after we decided to purchase a British Air around the world air travel ticket. Once booked, the British Air agent told us that she believed that we had the largest British Air itinerary every booked.
